Our Story

Since 2015 we have been blessed to care for and share these 9 acres with the people on the NW side of Indianapolis. We are using it to grow some healthy food and to serve our community in numerous ways!

KayLeo Urban Farm is named after two wonderful people who, by their lifelong efforts to make the world a better place, paved the way for all of this to happen - Judith Kay Schulte and Dennis Leo Schulte. We (their daughter Marilyn Schulte and son-in-law Scott Rice) dreamed for some time about owning a piece of land and using it for the greater good. In 2015 we got that chance. On the northwest side of Indy surrounded by condos, apartments, houses and businesses sat 9 acres of woods, open fields, an old house, a big barn and a weed-filled garden. The house needed a lot of work and the property had been neglected for some time, but all we saw was potential! After a few years of blood, sweat and tears, we are living on our dream farm! We’re excited for the future and the opportunity to serve the people and environment of northwest Indianapolis!
